Science Department
Philosophy
At KCPPS, we tailor our Science curriculum and teaching practices to nurture a community of empathetic and ethical young scientists with scientific knowledge, skills and dispositions to solve current and future problems. Besides acquiring concepts, pupils develop scientific ways of thinking and doing. Most importantly, KCPPians are grounded in sound values that will guide them to utilise their knowledge and skills wisely.
Through inquiry-based learning, KCPPians make connections between theoretical concepts and the real world. Student-centric learning experiences enable pupils to evaluate and apply their learning in authentic contexts. They work collaboratively to conduct investigations in the Science laboratory and learning spaces within and beyond the school, applying thinking routines to deepen their appreciation of the Scientific Method and the Nature of Science. In a stimulating and supportive environment, Science teachers employ effective questioning in facilitating reflective practices to bring about deep learning.

Science Inquiry
Key Programmes & Approaches
Maker Activities
Maker activities prepare pupils to be innovative citizens who are able to navigate in and make meaningful contributions to a technological world. Pupils are exposed to thinking skills and interesting developments in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). In line with the school’s mission to nurture pupils to “overcome future challenges”, pupils apply concepts learnt in class to create products to solve real-world problems.

STEM Enrichment
Science Enrichment
Through collaboration and investigation activities, pupils develop higher-order inquiry and thinking skills. Science enrichment activities provide pupils opportunities to learn beyond the standard science curriculum and stretch aspiring pupils with talents in Science.
